There is so much to do here is Lagos, in addition to catering for the sun worshippers, it’s also ideal for those who like to keep active and try something new.
Beaches
Local beaches for sunbathing - all with restaurants, bars and equipment rental are Porto Do Mos, Praia de Luz and Maia Praia. Many other are within easy reach.
Golf
One of the most popular sports in the ‘off season’, there is an abundance of golf courses in the Western Algarve. In addition to the Boa Vista course which is definitely worth trying, my favourite is San Antonio.
Surfing
The western Algarve coast is a national park area - and renowned globally as a surfing mecca. This beautifully preserved coast line boasts some of the World’s best surfing and bodyboarding beaches - the nearest being within 20 mins drive.
Skydiving!
For the more Adrenalin fuelled, 20 mins drive gets you to Skydive Algarve. The unobstructed 360 degree view from 15,000ft is simply awesome.
Mountain Biking
Its not just the road cyclists who flock to the area, Monchique is also an MTB Mecca - with steep downhill trails or easy rolling fire roads through the forests, there is something for everyone.
On the Water
There are many windsurfing and kitesurfing sites along the coast as well as yacht and motorboat rental in Lagos (skippered or bareboat).
Road Cycling
With challenging climbs up the Monchique mountain range inland and many Km’s of rolling coastal roads, this area is the training ground for many top cycle teams in the winters. Smooth quiet roads, sun shine and breath-taking views… topped off with some of the best coffee and cake shops in Europe!
